Activating Simulcasting on MemoryShare

For customers interested in simulcasting their livestreams to their own website and Facebook Live, MemoryShare now offers Facebook integration. Activating this feature will send a video feed to the linked Facebook account. This article will walk you through linking your account and starting your simulcast on Facebook. This will require using Facebook in a web browser on a PC or Mac, it will not work with the Facebook mobile app on a phone or tablet.

You can find this feature in two places on MemoryShare.com. The first is under the 'Integrations' tab in your account settings.

It can also be found under the Share tab at the bottom of any live event you have created.

Both options will prompt you to enter your Stream Key from Facebook. However, there is an important setting that needs changed on Facebook before this info can be input, so let's take a look at that next.

Facebook Settings

To find your Stream Key, we'll need to open the Live Video page on Facebook in a web browser. The fastest way is to find the status update line where you'll see a Live Video button.

Once selected, you'll be prompted to choose between going live immediately or creating a live event. For the purposes of this tutorial, we'll choose the immediate option.

You should now be on the live video dashboard. You will notice that there is Stream Key field present, but this is not the one we'll need, first we need to go into the advanced settings.

With the advanced settings open, we can now see the 'Persistent Stream Key' option. Turn it on if it is not already activated. This will save you from having to update your connection info for every single livestream.

You can now copy the Stream Key and paste it into the pop up window from before on your MemoryShare account.

Once entered, you will see a new badge at the top of your events that will confirm video will be shared to your Facebook Account

Now that Simulcasting is enabled and setup, we can move on to starting our Facebook Live video.

Going Live On Facebook

Unfortunately, the one downside of Simulcasting to Facebook is that you will have to go live manually for every service, so let's walk through that process.

Once you've started your stream via your preferred method (MemoryShare App, OBS, etc.) you can start a live video on Facebook as shown above. On the left hand side of the screen you will see a list of views. We'll start with Stream Setup. Here, you will want to verify you are seeing a video feed coming through. If not, make sure that Streaming Software is selected, not Webcam.

Next, switch to the Dashboard view. Here, we can also verify that we are receiving a video feed, but if you scroll down a bit, you can see all of your stream Insights and Metrics. This lets you verify that audio and video are coming in at acceptable rates and you can identify any quality issues with the feed.

Once you've verified that your stream quality is acceptable, you can now go live by clicking the Go Live button at the bottom left.
